Lecrae Started with a Handwritten Note
October 5th, 2026
By: Melody
After two decades on the road, Lecrae stepped away from touring. His fans still needed a place to find him. So for Reconstruction, his first album in three years, he built The Workshop at workshop.lecrae.com, his own site powered by EVEN STUDIO, and invited his biggest fans in with a handwritten note.
At a glance
1,000 handwritten notes, each with a QR code that led to workshop.lecrae.com
Five weeks of trivia exclusively on his Studio, with a leaderboard and collectible badges
A Grammy-week video series fans could only watch on Lecrae’s Studio
Early access to the 26-track deluxe, with seven new songs
The Rollout
One thousand of Lecrae's most dedicated fans found out who was featured on Reconstruction through a handwritten note sent in the mail. Each note included a QR code that took them directly to workshop.lecrae.com.
The album originally arrived on August 22, 2025 and went on to earn two Grammy nominations. The deluxe, Reconstruction: Second Story, wasn't coming until February. Usually, that gap means months of silence, especially without a tour to bring fans together. The Workshop became the place to stay connected. It couldn’t replace a live show, but it gave fans something to engage with between between releases.
The Story: From the Mailbox to the Deluxe
Before release: 1,000 fans got a handwritten note revealing the album's features, with a QR code to The Workshop.
Five weeks: A new trivia question about Lecrae's catalog went up each week, with a leaderboard and badges. Every question was pulled from deep in his catalog, so the fans who'd been there the longest had the advantage
Grammy week: Lecrae shared a behind-the-scenes video series about getting ready for the ceremony, exclusively on The Workshop.
Before February 6, 2026: Reconstruction: Second Story, the 26-track deluxe with seven new songs, arrived early for fans who had signed up through The Workshop.
February 6, 2026: The deluxe released everywhere.
By the time the deluxe dropped, fans had been coming back for months. The new music landed right next to the trivia, videos and fan chat they were already using.

Lessons from the Playbook
Start with a personal touch.
Lecrae didn't advertise or promote. He led with a handwritten note. A thousand fans got something they tangible that led them directly to his site.
Reward the day one fans.
Lecrae's team wrote the trivia questions using details only longtime fans would know. It kept the game personal and gave his biggest fans a way to shine.
Turn big moments into exclusive content.
Lecrae's Grammy nominations already had people talking. He gave his fans a closer look with a behind-the-scenes video series they could only watch on The Workshop.
Plan it once and let it run.
Lecrae's team did the work once, writing the trivia questions up front. His Studio handled the rest, posting a new question each week to keep fans coming back.
Build Beyond the Release
For most artists, the time between an album and a deluxe goes quiet. For Lecrae, it was when his fans got closest. Every fan who answered a trivia question, watched the Grammy series or grabbed the deluxe early did it on The Workshop, and that connection doesn't end with this album. Without a tour, he still has a direct line to his biggest fans. When his next project drops, he won't need to find them. They'll already be in The Workshop.
That's what EVEN STUDIO is built for. Artists can run trivia and exclusive content, sell music directly, keep fans in one place between releases, and give their audience one site to come back to for every drop, announcement and moment that matters.
BEYOND RELEASE WEEK
The takeaway
Attention isn't the hard part. Reasons to come back are. Give fans a small thing to do each week and you build a habit, and a habit is what makes your next record land on people who are already there waiting. The scale of this one is deliberately small: five questions, one video series, one deluxe. Any artist with a catalog already has what they need for it.
